Professional Certificate in Plant Breeding

Continuing Education (CE) participants  may pursue a Professional Certificate in Plant Breeding and Genetics.  This program is ideal for participants wishing to obtain a broad based, solid foundation in plant breeding concepts and applications.  This program does not require enrollment at Texas A&M University, however all CE courses are taught by the Texas A&M professors that teach those subject areas on campus.  Courses are delivered completely online.  No campus visit is required.

Professional Certificate in Plant Breeding and Genetics Requirements

*Certificate participants must earn 70% on all course or course unit exam(s).

Prerequisites for Certificate Program

Continuing education participants in the certificate program should already have a foundation in plant breeding and genetics as evidenced by collegiate course experience.  Certificate participants should have completed undergraduate level genetics, undergraduate level plant breeding, and collegiate math.  For questions regarding these prerequisites or for a transcript evaluation, contact Beth Ann Luedeker (baluedeker@tamu.edu or 979.845.4620) or Wayne Smith (cwsmith@tamu.edu or 979.845.3450).

Admission to Certificate Program

Continuing education participants wishing to pursue the Professional Certificate in Plant Breeding and Genetics should submit the following via email to Beth Ann Luedeker – baluedeker@tamu.edu:

1.  Letter of Intent to pursue the certificate.  The letter should include your name, address, phone number, e-mail, and a brief description of your plant breeding experience.

2.  College Transcript (unofficial is acceptable.)

Note:  CE courses or course units cannot be used for transcripted academic credit at Texas A&M University.  Program participants who might decide to seek an advanced degree either on campus or through the Texas A&M Distance Plant Breeding Program will have to retake the course(s) for degree purposes.
